This is the first time Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy responded to the movie ticket price issue. AP CM said, “ My government is trying hard to help the poor by reducing the ticket rate. I tried to give entertainment to the poor people at affordable rates. We decided the rates keeping the poor in mind. Those who are criticising me for this act, they are enemies of the poor.”
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said all those who are making comments are the real enemies of the poor. It is known that more than150 theatres were closed in Andhra Pradesh but all of them have now reopened once again.
On the other side, several theatre owners around the state have closed their doors, claiming that it is no longer profitable for them to operate after the state government set ticket prices. According to the AP Cine Exhibitors Association, the govt should not intervene in pricing of movie tickets.
