The movie ticket price issue in AP is heating up with each passing day. While there are many movies which are slated to hit the cinema halls very soon, the number of theatres closing down in the state is also increasing due to decreased the film tickets prices by the AP Government. On Saturday, the management at V-epiq, India’s largest and Asia’s second largest movie theatre, voluntarily downed shutters.
The management stated that they would not even be able to defray operational expenses if they run the show under the provisions of the state government’s GO.
As per the govt order, the theatre is categorised under C class, and can price its tickets at Rs 30, Rs 20, and Rs 10, respectively.
Recently the theatres were also raided and seized by the Andhra Pradesh revenue officials that were screening Akhanda and Pushpa.
There are around 185 film theatres that were voluntarily shut by the exhibitors in Andhra Pradesh.
